Spend summer in the UK learning English

Have you already made plans for the summer? If not, you should consider combining your holiday with a language course abroad.

As well as the usual holiday activities such as going out, playing sports, sightseeing and entertaining it will allow you to learn about life in a different country, to meet people from just about anywhere in the world and to improve your language skills at the same time.

So what can you expect from your holiday?

  • Whether you need English for work or social life, you will study in a fun and easy way,
  • You can choose a programme that will challenge you academically and help you grow professionally,
  • You will have time for sightseeing and participating in programmes organised for you by your school on daily basis,
  • You will meet people from different backgrounds.

What will be your choice of location?

England can be very different depending on which town or city you choose.

Do you want to make the most of city life? You can then opt for London or one of the bigger cities in the UK such as Bristol or Manchester.

If you love history, there are cities like Oxford, Cambridge or Bath. Are you torn between a beach holiday or a trip to a language school? Well, you don’t have to choose. Bournemouth is famous for its language schools and has a few miles of sandy beaches with beautiful nature along the coastline.

You can even stay in a traditional English picturesque village if you prefer!

Does your age group matter?

There are many different programmes and you will be spoilt for choice. Even though most schools take students from 16 years old, there are programmes that will cater for specific requirements.

Parents can come with children as young as 3 years old! Activities are designed for just adults or children or for both together.

Teenagers (ages 10-17)

Some courses are specifically aimed at teenagers with workshops and entertainment programmes that are fun but will also help to develop skills for the future. Language schools take health and safety very seriously so you don’t have to worry whether your children will be looked after. There are courses in private boarding schools that are fully supervised and the students will receive even more attention from the staff. If the school is based in London, they will be accompanied by a member of staff at all times.

Adults 30+

There are language schools that cater specifically for adults and their needs. This creates a comfortable environment where you will not feel excluded and will be surrounded by people of similar age and interests from different countries. Adult courses usually fall into two categories: business or leisure. The structure of the course will be very different depending on whether you need English for work or to enhance your social life.

Preparing to study abroad?

If you are an ambitious student determined to achieve better results, you can choose a course that will challenge you academically and prepare you for examinations such as IELTS or Cambridge certificate and still not have to miss out on your holiday.

The price of the course can vary depending on the length of the course, the school you choose and the accommodation. As a general rule, the longer the course, the cheaper will be the price you pay per week. For a three-month programme you will expect to pay from 184 to 260 pounds per week for the classes themselves and from 140 to 250 pounds for the accommodation. For more information please go to Cost of learning English abroad.

Whatever your needs are, there is a language school to meet them. Courses are aimed at work, study or everyday use of English. So you can design a programme that will be perfect for you including the age group, the city and what you want to get out of it in terms of personal and professional development.
