British Home Office further shortens the list of secure English language tests
The British Home Office has announced further changes in the secure English language tests approved for immigration purposes. From 6 April 2015 only IELTS and exams from Trinity College London (TCL) will be accepted for UK visa applications.
This means that IELTS tests will be the only approved tests which can be taken by international students outside the UK. Trinity College London tests must be taken in the UK.
The tests from other provides (Pearson, City & Guilds and Cambridge tests other then IELTS) can still be taken for visa purposes till 5 April 2015. The tests taken before this date can be used for UK visa applications made on or before 5 November 2015.
You can find the List of approved English language tests and providers up to 5 April 2015 and the List of approved tests and providers after 6 April 2015 following the links. Please use the links above to find out where your nearest test centre is located.
The announcement follows the investigation into systematic exam fraud in the UK. In 2014 TOEFL and TOEIC tests were the first to be removed from the approved test list, followed by some tests provided by Trinity College London and Cambridge English.
